Medicaid program begins

Local health insurance broker Vicki Powell wants to inform the public that Wyoming Medicaid will start its Unwinding Program from May 2023 through July 2024. This process will not happen all at once and Powell is concerned that if a Medicaid participant has moved since the pandemic started or their financial status has changed, Wyoming Medicaid might not have their current contact information. 

If Wyoming Medicaid does not have the participant’s current information, they might miss receiving their renewal packet in the mail. Also, if they miss their packet, they could be dropped from medical coverage and not know it. 

Powell said, “My personal fear is if people aren’t aware that this is happening, they haven’t updated their information with Wyoming Medicaid, they have something happen and they go in and then they find out their Medicaid is inactive. Then they’re going to be stuck with that medical bill. So that’s why I want people to know that they need to make sure they have updated information.”

Powell continued and said, “Watch for those renewal packets, whether you’re on Medicare or under 65. I can help people get insurance so that people that are under 65 that are losing their Medicaid have coverage.”
