Leone Ramsey

Leone Harriet Lawrence was born December 23, 1931, at the Homestead just west of Thermopolis on Owl Creek. When she was only a couple years old, the family moved to Thermopolis where she went to school.

After World War II in 1946, her brothers had come back from Europe. She met and fell in love with another G.I., William Leland Ramsey, who was her older brother Amos' best friend. On April 25, 1947, in Red Lodge, Mont., they were married. Leone was 15 and Leland was the ripe old age of 21. They were happily married and raised a family for over 50 years. They had three sons, Philip Darrel, Lonny Lee and Jody Gene.

Leone was most noted for being a tidy homemaker and an amazing cook. She had a fantastic green thumb as beautiful house plants filled her home. There was always conversation and coffee at the kitchen table as well as a good card game. She was the love of Leland's life, a great mom to her sons, and the best grandma ever to her grandchildren. She will be missed but always remembered until we can join her in Heaven.

Leone was ushered into paradise to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior at 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023.

She is survived by son, Lonny Lee, of Thermopolis; grandchildren, Jeremy Scott Ramsey of Minot, N.D., Stepheny Robin Butcher (Darren) of Thermopolis; Jared Canton Ramsey (Kasandra) of Rawlins, Audra Michelle Dominguez (Rojelio) of Thermopolis, and Triston Ramsey of Rawlins; and great-grandchildren, Camille Elliott of Thermopolis, Gabriel Dominguez of Thermopolis, and Emily and William Ramsey of Rawlins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alta Blanche Lawrence and Amos Scott Lawrence; brothers and sisters, Lloyd, Alma, Jess, Ruby, Ruth, Chester, Amos, Floyd and her twin, Leonard; husband, Leland; and sons, Philip Darrel and Jody Gene.
