Wrestlers end their regular season with strong performances

The Bobcat wrestlers had three duals in Buffalo last Friday to complete their regular season. The cats went 2-1 on the day.

“Against Lovell we gave up 36 points due to unfilled weights. We still managed to win 7 out of 8 matches to tie them with a final score of 39-39. Lovell won based on criteria in which they had fewer forfeits,” said coach Travis McDermott.

In the second dual against Wright, the Bobcats won with a 33-18 score. In their final dual, they also got the victory with a 40-12 score. Overall the cats went 16-5 on the day with an impressive 14 pins.

“We did all of that with three of our starters out for the week forcing us to bump wrestlers up in weights to get matches,” said coach McDermott.

Roedy Farrell went 3-0 on the day with 3 pins. Seth Needham also went 3-0 on the day. Will Ward was 2-0. Ethan Crow was 2-1. Colter Price was 1-1. Dalton Price was 2-1. Sam Skelton went 2-1. Mason Reese went 1-1.

The Cats will be in Cokeville this Friday for West 2A regionals where the top eight in each weight will qualify for the state tournament next week.

The Lady Cats each got some mat time Friday as well. Alix Sorensen went 1-1 on the day. Kaitlin Barral and Tera Kraushaar both went 1-0 on the day.

The Lady cats will be wrestling in Lyman on Thursday to end their regular season. They will all get the opportunity to compete in the first Wyoming Girls State Championship in Casper next Thursday February 23.
