Thermopolis Middle School boys basketball scoreboard update

8th grade A&B

Lovell A (37) vs Thermopolis A (41)

“With our slow start in the first quarter, we found ourselves 12 down.Thankfully we had a little grit and determination show up and we held Lovell to 0 points in the second quarter, gaining the lead before halftime. We were able to hold on in this close game, but a great game to see them overcome a very large 1st quarter deficit,” said coach Ryan Shaffer

Scoring: Simeral 13, Welch 11, Garrison 10

Lovell B (27) vs Thermopolis B (24)

“This was a close game the whole way. Unfortunately, we ended on the wrong side. Humphry made a big 3 point shot in the first to keep the game tight and Cheatham played some great minutes for us. The Martinez brothers moved the ball well and came away with some big defensive plays to hold us in the game. Overall, it was a good game that I wish we had back to finish how we wanted,” said coach Shaffer.

Scoring: Cheatham 6, D Martinez 4

Thermopolis A (54) vs Powell A (34)

“As we have in the past, we started a little slow in this one but still maintained a lead going into halftime. We came out in the 3rd and outscored Powell 20-7 which sealed our lead. The team has shown improvement on the defensive end, which also leads to scoring opportunities. Led by Welch, the offense didn’t have many issues finding open shots,” said coach Shaffer.

Scoring: Welch 16, Simeral 13, Garrison 11

Thermopolis B (36) vs Powell B (28)

“Going into halftime down by 10 we came together and set a plan that would get us back into this game,” said Coach. Led by Mascorro, the boys were able to come back and win by 8 points in this one. Defensively, we picked it up only allowing 6 points in the second half,” said coach Shaffer.

Scoring: Mascorro 14,D Martinez 8

Thermopolis A (42) vs Cody A (34)

“The team started very strong in this game going into halftime with a 19-point lead. We had 6 players score and saw Aiden Flores get himself going with some great defense and his high point game of the year. Between our 3 guards we shot very well, and when that is coupled with our big post play, we are a tough team to beat,” said coach Shaffer.

Scoring: Garrison 10, Simeral 9

Thermopolis B (25) vs Cody B (32)

Coach Shaffer said, “This was a tough loss as we played them close all game and gave a little too much at the end. Getting beat 11-3 in the fourth quarter was a heartbreak as we led the entire game until then. Overall, it was a good learning moment for many of the boys as they understand more now how being a team that can stick together until the end is important.”

Scoring: D Martinez 7, Mascorro 5, M Martinez 5
