Members of the Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department were honored during their annual banquet last Saturday held at the Fire Hall.
Three members of the department have a total of 95 years of experience to be proud of. Firefighter John Fish with 30 years, serving since December 1992, was presented with a ceremonial pick head axe. Chief Mark Collins with 30 years, serving since March 1992, was also presented with a ceremonial pick head axe. Firefighter Opie Love with 35 years, serving since January 1987, was presented with a ceremonial Pulaski tool.
The traditional pick head axe has long been associated with firefighters as an integral tool of the trade. The Pulaski Tool likewise carries an honored association in wild land firefighting.
Additional awards handed out during the banquet include: 10 Years of Service - Firefighters Obadiah Bishop and Forrest Coleman-Weisz, 15 Years of Service - Firefighter Chris Paris; 20 Years of Service - Firefighter Dion Robbins and Kitchen Committee Master Chef - Firefighter Brandon Blakesley.
