Schenck to present a photographic journey

Dr. Jeb Schenck will present his photography journeys to Antarctica, Patagonia, and the Falkland Islands on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Community Hall. The exhibition will be about an hour and a half long and will finish with a dramatic video.

Schenck said, “About 99% of the pictures that we’re going to show have never been seen by the public. We’ll see not only the wild and mountainous terrain of Antarctica and the penguins, but also extruded and airy landscapes from Patagonia. And then a lot of interactions with different penguins in the Falkland Islands.”

Schenck added, “The video is specifically on Antarctica and the ship and all the things that we did see. I think the public will find it very interesting. We’ll certainly entertain questions. There are some stories that go with the pictures, also some material relating to the discovery of the exploration ship Endurance from the early Antarctic explorations.”

Schenck continued and said, “It’s quite different there. At the southern end of South America, the mountains are unlike anything that we have here in North America. The landscapes and the animals are different. We’ll see a lot of animals. And of course, the penguins are quite different and sometimes have very funny behaviors. We will talk about those and see some pictures of some of them.”
