The varsity boys Bobcat basketball team hosted the Powell Panthers at home last Friday with the Cats falling to the #4 ranked Panthers 85-59.
"We played really well in the first quarter. We hit a lull in the second quarter where Powell outscored us by 17. We were able to make a few runs in the second half but couldn't make up the ground from getting down by 17 in the 2nd," said coach Shane Corpening. He added, "Offensively I thought we played our best game of the season. We were getting open looks on that side of the ball and the boys were executing. Defensively, I thought we played one of our worst. Credit to Powell, they are a really talented and athletic team." Cord Simeral played well scoring 20 points, the high scoring player of the game. " Cord did a good job of finishing around the rim and stretching the floor with a couple of three pointers," said coach Corpening. He added, "Defensively, Jhett Longwell played a really good game." Both Cord and Jhett had five rebounds each. The Bobcats host Worland at home this Friday with JV tipping off at 3:30 p.m. and varsity at 7 p.m. in the high school gym.
