At the end of the awards, the HSC Fair Board presented a special award to Vern Lofink to thank him for his service. Ginger Ward, a representative of the fair board, said about Lofink that "Since I was in 4-H in 1988, he started to volunteer his time to auction at the fair. He has been doing the auction for the fair since the late 1980s. At this last fair, he did not auction because of the choice to go to an online auction service. We want to thank him very publicly for his years of service to Hot Springs County. He's a great auctioneer and we appreciate the time he spent. He has created a legacy with the local youth."
