Last Thursday, the Thermopolis Middle School wrestling team hosted a quad duel with Lander, Riverton and Worland.
To start the night out, the Bobcats won thirteen out of twenty-two matches against Lander.
The team then dueled Riverton and won seven out of eleven matches to finish the night.
“The team ended the night winning roughly 60% of our matches; not too bad. The team wrestled well overall. It’s always fun being able to wrestle in front of our home crowd,” stated coach Toby Emery.
On Saturday, November 12, the team traveled to Worland for an invitational tournament.
Three Bobcat champions were crowned including Garret White (70 lbs.), Dyllan Myers (91 lbs.) and Cannon Boren (120 lbs.).
Coach Emery said, “We had almost everyone grappler place in the top four, which is always a bonus and confidence booster for the team.”
Runner ups included Lilly Quintanilla (105 lbs.) and Mack Buckner (155 lbs.). Finishing third was Wiley Jones (145 lbs.), Tannen Birdsley (110 lbs.) and Jesalyn Blair (134 lbs.). Trevin Shaffer placed fourth at (98 lbs.).
“We lost some close matches this weekend but are showing improvement as a whole. We definitely have some areas to focus on in practice this week along with staying healthy,” stated Emery.
Their next competition is this Saturday, in Lander for a team duel tournament starting at 9:30 a.m.
