Moonlight Madness is returning to the streets of downtown Thermopolis on Thursday, October 27. There will be Mason Tacos from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Masonic Hall.
The costume contest is sponsored by Wyoming Children’s Trust Fund and will be at 6 p.m. on Broadway in front of Town Hall. The categories are Group Under 1; 1-2 years; 3-4 years; 5-6 years; 7-8 years; 9 years and above. The judging will happen in this order.
Shailee Harvey Photography will have a Photo Booth located at the Old Fire Hall. Also, a Pinata Bash, hosted by the Thermopolis Independent Record, will follow the Costume Contest on Broadway in front of Town Hall.
There is also a Costume Scavenger Hunt, hosted by Central Bank & Trust. Turn in a completed scavenger hunt for prizes. Look for the table at the Costume Contest.
Trick or Treating will be offered at several of the stores. Look for ads in next week’s IR from specific businesses.
On Sunday prior to Halloween and on Halloween night other community events have been scheduled to ensure lots of fun for all.
First Baptist Church will hold the Early Bird Trunk or Treat in their South Parking Lot, 310 S. 6th Street, on Sunday, October 30 from 7-8 p.m. The event is a free family event and is open to the community. Pastor Caleb Howe said, “We want to do something for the community and provide a safe place for families trick or treating.” The Early Bird Trunk or Treat is after the church’s evening service and it is part of their Harvest Month Festival.
Hot Springs County Search and Rescue, along with First Responders, will hold their Trunk or Treat event at the Fire Hall on 14th Street on Halloween, October 31 from 6-8 p.m. Organizer Casey Freund said, “It’s a great event for the parents to bring their kids out. We’re handing out candy. The big thing is that we’re excited to have the community, the school children, and the parents come to meet the local first responders and have a happy, safe Halloween.”
The Thermopolis Middle School is hosting a Haunted Harvest on October 31 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. There will be a few carnival-type games outside of the front entrance to the middle school. Also, there will be a haunted walkthrough inside the school. Admission to the haunted house is $3. They will be passing out candy as well. This event is a fundraiser for the Thermopolis Middle School Student Council and will be for one night only.
