Pumpkin Hunt starts Monday

Range will hold its 2nd Annual The Great Pumpkin Hunt on October 24-28 in Thermopolis. Come find the Great Pumpkin and win the Grand Prize valued at more than $5,700.

Range will be hiding the Great Pumpkin (a real pumpkin decorated with their logo) at a location somewhere in Thermopolis. You can get the daily clue to its location by visiting Range’s Facebook page @RangeConnected. If you find the Great Pumpkin, bring it to Range’s office at 338 Broadway St.

Linda Weeks, Range’s regional marketing and sales manager said, “We started this pumpkin hunt seven years ago in Worland, and then we’ve expanded to different areas. And so this year we have five different towns for pumpkin hunts with each different prize package. We do it because it’s a way to get our businesses involved, and the community involved in a really fun event. And that’s what it does and why we do it. It’s actually for people to start talking about it ahead of time. They’re looking for clues. And there you can see people out there looking for the pumpkin, especially when you have the prize package that’s valued at $5,700.â€

Weeks described their previous event and said, “Last year I think the prize was $3,400 in Thermopolis. But you get the people excited and the community and we encourage people to work in teams. They collectively go together and search for the pumpkin and try to figure out the clues. We have kids doing it in their class. We have families at the breakfast table talking about it. It’s a way to get the community involved and have a really fun event during a really fun season, which is that fall, Halloween season.â€

Weeks continued and said, “We’ve heard throughout the areas that we have the pumpkin hunt, people look forward to it every year. They look forward to it because it gives them something different to do and the businesses look forward to participating because we essentially ask them to participate, but we do all the work. They get some advertising. They get people coming into the store. They enjoy the involvement. And it’s just a really nice community activity.â€

The Great Pumpkin will be hidden on public land or in a public building, but not on a golf course. Please do not look for it on any private property, because it will not be there.
