The Varsity Football team headed to Lyman last Friday to take on the Eagles. The Bobcats fought hard but came up short, losing 58-25.
“The Bobcats got into a shoot-out with the two-time defending state champion Lyman Eagles this past Friday. The team came up short, yet did some good things in the game. Lyman hadn’t given up more than 14 points to an opponent all season, and the Bobcats were able to score 25,” said coach Matt McPhie.
The Lyman offense was clicking, and the Bobcat team was unable to stop them from finding the endzone.
Defensively, the Bobcats were led by Gavin Shumway, Jessen Basse, Roedy Farrell and Mason Reese - who each had 6 tackles in the contest. Logan Dafoe had 5 tackles and Ryan and Chris Arends, along with Colter Price, chipped in 4 tackles.
Offensively, Gavin Shumway had a big day passing the football. Shumway threw for 311 yards and 2 touchdowns. Shumway also had a rushing TD. Del Dukes hauled in 5 passes for 157 yards and score. Roedy Farrell caught 3 passes for 84 yards and a touchdown. Farrell also had a 99 yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Ryan Arends caught 6 passes for 70 yards.
The Bobcats host Cokeville this Friday at home. Game time is 4 p.m.
