Lady Cats host home volleyball tournament

The Lady Cat volleyball team had a busy weekend hosting several teams on their home turf, including Big Piney, Little Snake River, Burlington, Encampment, Shoshoni and Riverside.

The varsity girls went 6-4 in pool play and were seeded 4th in the Gold Bracket.

“We saw a lot of improvement throughout the weekend and felt we really started to mesh as a team,” said coach Shannon Hill.

“The team started out a little rough, not really bringing any energy to the court, but by the end of Friday night, the girls were playing together and competing well. The girls brought it Saturday morning and finished pool play strong but faced undefeated Riverside in the first round of bracket play. Riverside has some solid players and we played well with them until about point 9 or 10 when we got stuck in some rotations and couldn’t get out of it. All in all, it was a good weekend, and we look forward to a lot of play this upcoming weekend,” added coach Hill.

Scores (with the Lady Cats listed first): Big Piney: 19-21, 14-21 Little Snake River: 9-21, 9-21;Shoshoni: 21-19, 21-17; Burlington: 21-15, 21-11; Encampment: 21-12, 21-14 and Riverside: 14-21, 13-21.

The team has their conference duals in Lander this weekend. They will play the other side of the conference, including Mountain View, Lander, Lyman and Pinedale.
