Golfers headed to state

The Bobcat golf team traveled to Kemmerer in their latest match last Friday.

"This was a fun event that we don't often get to do. We just had a dual because all of 3A and 4A were at their state qualifying events and the other 2A schools are all on the East side of the state. We decided to compete in this dual rather than traveling to the other side of the state, two weeks in a row. It was fun because we got to play a different style (match play) where one player from our team plays the equal player from the other team," said coach Brandon Deromedi

He added, "We ended up splitting on the boys' side so the match ended in a tie. After tallying strokes, we lost by one stroke."

The spotlight athlete of this match was Hayden Overfield who shot an 85 and won his match. Final score was Thermopolis with a 359 to Kemmerer with 358.

Looking ahead to the 2A State Championship in Wright on Friday and Saturday, Deromedi said, "I am so proud of where we are at as a team. The majority of the kids seem to be peaking at the right time. We will do some serious looking at strategy for the Wright golf course this week as we focus on state. We will also continue to hone our short game."
