Bobcat golfers earn second at Lander Invite

by Tatum Epperson

The Bobcat Golf Team attended the Lander Invitational last Thursday and Friday, competing against Lander, Kemmerer, Green River, Lyman, Natrona County and Pinedale.

“I was really pleased with the performances on the boys’ side of the tournament. They performed really well given the 95–100-degree heat both days as well as playing on a course that was unfamiliar to all of them. They shot a 713 as a team which was good enough for 2nd place overall, which is the lowest they have shot this year for a two-day total,” said coach Brandon Deromedi.

He added, “Their earned spot of 2nd place was very impressive considering that there was only one other 2A school attending, the other schools were 3A and 4A.”

Deromedi said the team is getting close to the time of the season where they need to peak, and “the boys are playing well.”

Seth Weyer ended up 6th over all on the boys’ side and shot an 81 on day 1 and a 91 on day 2.

“Seth really stepped it up this week. He has been struggling with consistency early on, but seems to be dialing his scores back in. We will need him down the stretch at state,” said Deromedi

The Bobcat’s best scoring player was Seth Weyer with a 172 two-day total. The girls had no team score.

The Bobcat’s head to The Kemmerer Dual to compete this Friday.
