Lady Cats kick off season at Rocky Mountain

by Tatum Epperson

The Lady Bobcat Varsity Volleyball team kicked off the season at Rocky Mountain.

Varsity Coach, Shannon Hill said “I am very excited for this season and the potential this varsity team has. I made some early match changes with some positions, and the girls adapted really well to those changes. We didn’t pass as well as I know this team can, and we are running with a new setter (who did a great job on her first varsity match in that position), so finding our tempo is something we are working towards.

Hill added “Rocky is a scrappy team, and we had some great rallies. Our girls really play well as a team and support each other. Once they find their rhythm and start to play as a well-oiled machine, we will be a force to be reckoned with.”

A few star players for this match include Lexi Overfield with 11 kills, 3 aces and 2 blocks; Ina King with 7 kills and 3 blocks; and Hanna Hill with 5 kills and 3 aces.

Scores for the matches were: 18(T)-25; 20(T)-25; 25(T)-21; 17(T)-25 (T= Thermopolis).

The roster for the 2022-2023 season includes: Lexi Overfield, Kiyah Oliver, Brooklynn Williams, Sydney Shaffer, Hanna Hill, Saraiya Sosa, Morgan Slover, Dazzlyn Hunt, Ina King, Lexi Garrison and Jayci Basse.

The Lady Cats next matches are Friday and Saturday in Cody for the Border Wars Tournament.
