Selvig holds meet and greet

Marissa Selvig, who is running for the U.S. House of Representatives under the Constitution Party in the state of Wyoming, recently held a meet and greet in Thermpopolis.

Selvig is from Riverton, has four children, married for six years, is a musician, worked at Central Wyoming College in the theater program, and is trained in speech and communication.

Selvig is also the director of the Food Bank for Foundations for Nation’s Ministries in Riverton. They do outreaches in town and on the Indian reservation.

Selvig said the reason she is running this race is that it is “a call from the Lord. I heard from the Lord back in 2020 that this is something that I’m supposed to be doing right now. And it really wasn’t on my radar too much before that. But when the Lord calls you to do something, you obey.”

Selvig’s heart is for her four children and “to save the nation,” and “I don’t want this country to become the slaves to the globalists. And I think that’s the direction we’re headed.”

As a representative of the Constitution Party Selvig said their motto is “honor, God, and honor the Constitution.” They also have three pillars for their platform, which are “liberty, integrity, and prosperity.” Selvig added, “I feel very free to share how I really feel about the government inside the Constitution Party that much more free than I felt when I was a part of the GOP.”

Selvig also explained why she was not on the primary ballot in Wyoming’s recent election. Selvig said, “The reason I’m not on the ballot for the primary is because I’m a minor party candidate. And in Wyoming, the minor party candidates go right to the general election because they select their candidates via the convention process. So I was put through a series of interviews. I had to provide letters of recommendation and a resume, and I was grilled quite intensely by the vetting committed for the Constitution Party.”

Selvig is running against both the Republican and Democrat candidates for Wyoming’s sole office in the U.S. House of Representatives. Selvig said, “My candidacy is different… I’m a pretty strict constitutionalist, and I want to take our government back down to bare bones. And I know that that’s not going to happen right away, but it’s something that I talk about all the time on the campaign trail. What are we doing that is constitutional and what is not?”

Regarding Selvig’s GOP opponent Harriet Hageman, Selvig said, “We’re similar in some issues. But since she is in the GOP, she is beholden to some of those tenets of their party platform.”
