The tales of two: Cody and Devils Tower

The Bobcat Golf team has had a busy week and there is no slowing down in sight!

First up was the Cody Invite. Opponents included Cody, Powell, Lovell, Sheridan and Worland. The Bobcats had a team score of 740 which earned them 5th Place.

Hadley Johnson earned a 2-day score of 158 and earned 1st place.

Coach Deromedi said “We had a great two days in Cody. I think that was the lowest wind speed ever recorded for a Cody tournament. Hadley Johnson won the boys side of the tournament on a thrilling playoff hole victory over Worland’s Landon Gilmore. Both players tied with a 158 after two days of competition which sent them into a one-hole playoff to determine the victor. With the rest of the field of players and coaches watching, Johnson defeated Gilmore with a birdie. We also had 7 of our players set new course records for the Olive Glenn golf course.”

The girls’ team ended the tournament with no score, but their skills keep improving with each meet.

Next up was the match at Devil’s Tower. Devils Tower is a semi-private course that is incredibly challenging.

Coach Deromedi stated “The sort of score that Hadley, Spencer and Hayden shot were amazing to see on such a difficult course. The kids responded really well by just focusing on their shots and trusting their yardages and in doing so, worked out well for each of them. Spencer had the lead most of the tournament as well. If we can keep rolling with this type of scoring, we set ourselves up nicely for the end of the year in Wright. I’d like to see us average around 340 as a team and we should be pretty competitive. Our score 352 - 1st for the boys and girls no score.”

Hadley, Spencer and Hayden all tied with an 86, which was good enough to tie them all for second place.

The Bobcat Invite is scheduled for Thursday against Cody, Lovell, Worland and Riverton.

Friday the Bobcats travel to Lovell to play against Cody, Lovell, Worland and Powell.
