The 2022 Junior Livestock Auction and Judges' Choice Bake Sale at the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds Friday night brought in a record breaking $218,963.26, up from $203,104.50 last year.
Along with the live and online auction for sheep, swine, goats and beef, baked goods were offered up in a silent auction.
Twenty-seven head of beef came through the ring this year and sold for an average of $4,628.40 per head for a total sales amount of $124,966.76. The average price per head was up from last year's average of $4,473.32.
Grand Champion Hoyt Peil's steer was purchased by One Eyed Buffalo at $4.75 per pound for a total of $5,386.50. Steers owned by Peil, Emma Dean and Ellis Webber tied for high price per pound at $4.75. Dean's steer was purchased by Mack's Market and Webber's steer was purchased by Storyteller.
The number of swine sold at auction was down from 29 head last year to 21 this year for a total sales amount of $61,111.50. Average price per head this year was $2,910.07, up substantially from $2,108.78 last year.
Engineering Associates purchased the Grand Champion swine of Bridger Peil's at $10 per pound for a total of $2,610.00. Cody Bomengen sold the high price per pound swine at $20.50, bought by Steve's Plumbing.
Twenty-one sheep sold at the auction for a total of $26,907.50, up from $20,991.00 last year for 21 head. The average price per head this year came out to $1,281.31, up from $999.57 last year.
Tymber Eckley's Grand Champion sheep did not sell. High price per pound went to Rylee Agar and Kimber Frederick's sheep at $15 per pound. Agar's sheep was purchased by Stotz Equip and Frederick's was purchased by Vicklund Pharmacy.
Four goats were auctioned off for a total of $2,032.50, up from $1,602.75 last year for three goats.
Average price of $508.13 per head was down slightly from last year at $534.25.
Chloee Owsley's Grand Champion goat did not sell.
Remi Adams and Arin Adams both received $7.50 per pound for their goats and tied for high price per pound. Buyers were Big Horn Co-op and Jackrabbit Java.
The total for baked goods sold at silent auction was $3,945, up from $3,050 last year. The high seller was Alec Marinez for $500, bought by C & B John Deere.
