At the June 15 Hot Springs County Travel and Tourism meeting held at the Quality Inn, Treasurer Audra Dominguez presented the financial report and said that for the month of May the lodging tax revenue collected was $16,259.73 which is an 8% increase compared to the previous year in the same month. Dominguez said, “The upward trend continues. It’s record-breaking. This has been six months of record-breaking reports that we’ve had this year.”
For the director’s report, Jackie Dorothy said, ““I will be meeting with our RMI partners to discuss alternative programs since we opted out of the conference and have a credit with them. This is Rocky Mountain International–our partners in international tourism. We are laying the foundation for increased visits from foreign visitors.”
In old business, there are two board openings due to Susan Lankford and Rachel Moon stepping down. Also, Dorothy announced that on June 28 there will be an International Training meeting at the County Library, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.
In new business, Mike Sinclair was appointed to be the Secretary for the board, and Sherman Skelton was appointed to be Vice-Chair. There will be a board retreat in Cody in October. The specific dates are to be determined. Chairman Carl Leyba said they hope to bring in a state representative to meet them.
The next Travel and Tourism meeting will be on July 20.
