Museum hosts 'The Tea Party Controversy'

Join the Hot Springs County Museum for a rousing investigation into a controversial chapter of Wyoming history with Kylie Louise McCormick on Saturday, June 18 at 2 p.m.

In “The Tea Party Controversy” audiences will join the investigation into why women’s right to vote was recognized in 1869 in Wyoming.

The origin of Wyoming’s woman suffrage has long been shrouded in debate: should Esthar Hobart Morris be given the title of “mother of woman suffrage” or is she someone who has received “more credit than she deserves?”

This presentation will offer a new perspective on the early suffrage activism of Morris and the historians who debate her.

The event at the museum, 700 Broadway, will be free but donations will be accepted.
