Town clean-up next week

The Town of Thermopolis will be holding its annual Spring Clean-Up on May 16-21. All residents and business owners are encouraged to clean their property in preparation for the upcoming summer season.

According to the Town’s Director of Public Works Ernie Slagle and Assistant to Mayor Fred Crosby, four 20 feet dumpsters will be located at these addresses for residents: 14th Street next to the tennis courts, 9th Street and Big Horn, 8th Street and Amoretti, and the 200 block of 2nd Street.

There will also be a Free Dump Day at the town landfill for all town and county residents. It will be Saturday, May 21 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Crosby and Slagle note that the town landfill rules still apply.

Also, do not put in dumpsters: tires, appliances with freon, no concrete, gravel, or dirt. No hazardous waste, such as oil, paint, batteries, or solvents. They also ask that if someone cuts down an entire tree to not put it in the dumpsters, just take it to the landfill.

The town is pleased to provide this event once a year, but if the public shows interest and wants to suggest having a second clean-up day, both Slagle and Crosby are open to the town’s input and hear their ideas.
