Wildflower weekend planned in June

The Wyoming Native Plant Society Wildflower Weekend is being planned in Thermopolis for June 3-5.

Weekend activities will include native plant hikes, workshops and talks.

With our world class natural hot springs and spectacular geology, the area has an interesting and diverse suite of plant species.

Hike options will include wildflowers from desert to foothills to montane peaks, a diverse array of rare and endemic plants and breathtaking views of the Bighorn Basin landscape. Locations include: Hot Springs State Park, Copper Mountain, Tensleep Preserve, Heart Mountain, Roundtop Mountain and Birdseye Pass.

There will be something for everyone, from beginners to seasoned botanists.

The Thermopolis Community Hall at 631 Big Horn St. will be home base for the event. Most hikes and events will occur at or leave from the hall, except Friday evening hikes in Hot Springs State Park.

Participants are asked to register by May 27.
