NW BOCES program at Saturday meeting

At this month’s Hot Springs County Historical Society meeting on Saturday, March 12 at 2 p.m. at the Historical Museum, the featured program will be “NW BOCES: Building Our Children’s Everyday Success.” The presenter will be Carolyn Campbell Conner.

Northwest Wyoming Board of Cooperative Educational Service, or NW BOCES, is celebrating their 51st anniversary this year and their program will be on how it all began. Highlights will include a discussion of a variety of services throughout the years, including its funding and staffing.

According to their website, “Our goal is to create a warm, open environment where students feel safe enough to ask questions, explore and seek answers. We challenge every student to do his or her own personal best and help them through their difficult times.”

Presenter Carolyn Campbell Conner is a Thermopolis native who joined NW BOCES in 1984 as a part-time school Social Worker. She became a Principal in 1997, and Administrative Director in 2002.

The meeting is free and open to everyone who is interested in the history of Thermopolis, Hot Springs County, and the State of Wyoming. If you have any questions or comments, please all 921-1551 and leave a message. Refreshments will be served.
