At the March 1 Thermopolis Town Council, a brief meeting was held at Town Hall.
Council member John Dorman inquired about the garbage transfer station. It was reported that they are waiting on DEQ’s timetable to put in the funding. The landfill’s contract ends in June 2023 and it is filling up. Once the last cell reaches a certain percentage of being full, that will be the trigger point to initiate the funding.
During citizen participation, Gary Green represented Main Street Thermopolis and requested street closure for their Brewfest Event on June 4. The closure area will be the same as last year in front of Town Hall on Broadway Street, east of 5th Street. The council voted and approved the street closure.
Town Engineer Anthony Barnett reported that the silo tank painting project has been put out for bidding.
Under administration, Assistant to Mayor Fred Crosby reported that they received the Region 6 Mitigation Plan document. The document is very lengthy, about 500 pages.
The council decided to invite County Emergency Manager Bill Gordon to come to the next meeting to tell them about any changes since the previous 2016 document before voting to accept the document.
