The Lady Cats were on the road Friday to take on Newcastle and then played at home on Saturday against Douglas. The Ladies had been fighting illness but continued to show grit and toughness showing a no retreat mind set.
Against Newcastle the Lady Cats fell short as nothing seemed to go right for the girls. They never gave up even with the struggles they faced transitioning with both offense and defense. Coach David Villa said, "We talked about circling the calendar when we play them again and to be ready for another opportunity. As we all felt that game was not a true representation of how we perform." The final score against Newcastle was 50-11.
On Saturday the Lady Cats took on the #1 3A team Douglas. The Cats went into the game with the mindset if they want to beat the best they have to play the best. The ladies struggled with the offense and defense transitions again but fought even harder than the game the day before. Overall the game was a loss but Coach Villa was proud of his team as they never backed down and learned from their mistakes and pushed forward. The final score was Douglas 69, Thermopolis 29.
Coach Villa wanted to give a shoutout to Ruthann Johnson in the game against Douglas, when the game started to heat up she was able to lead the team with some critical points. "Ruth and her tenacity in attacking the rim and getting put on the foul line gave the team a spark that it needed," said coach Villa
The Junior Varsity Lady Cats got the big W against Newcastle with a final score of 26-9. The ladies came out in sync and came together to create phenomenal ball movement. "This game was a great reflection on their defense," said coach Katlin Despain.

Saturday the JV Lady Cats went against Douglas and came up short of the win. The ladies struggled getting their rhythm down and the Douglas press really slowed down the Cats. The final score was 55-22 with Ruth Johnson having 12 points, Kiyah Oliver with 5 and Kadance Bowman also with 5 points.
