Owner Roland Luehne plans to open Micky’s Theater in the coming few weeks. The theater is named after Micky Wallace who worked for the Star Plunge since 1978, for about 44 years. Wallace has been diagnosed with skin cancer and is terminal. Luehne wants to dedicate the theater to Wallace as he considers him family.
The theater, formerly known as The Ritz, has been closed for almost the past two years and is part of the fallout in the economy that affected theaters and Hollywood in general because of COVID. Luehne purchased the theater from Big Horn Federal Bank in December 2021 and the business is debt-free.
Currently, Luehne is focusing on getting the theater opened and getting things in order such as the movie studio agreements and operating the projector system. Cory Ireland will be the general manager of the theater.
Ticket prices will be $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $7 for kids. Luehne said if the business is profitable most of the proceeds will remain with the business and their goal is to add a second screening theater. This second smaller screen would be a luxury theater with cushy recliners and seats for about 25-50 people.
Luehne said he wants to have a theater that kids can come to and see their favorite new films.
