Bobcat wrestlers dominated at their tournaments last week bringing home several wins.
Friday in Greybull the Bobcats beat the Buffs 57-13. Brody Sorensen went into overtime and got the sudden death takedown to win the match.
“The entire team was full of energy in Basin and had a lot of fun on and off the mat cheering on their team-mates,” expressed Coach Travis McDermott about the Bobcats.
The Bobcats went to Pavilion on Saturday for a series of duals. The Bobcats started with a win over Rocky Mountain and Wyoming Indian 48-15. Second dual against Wind River was another win, 51-24. The third dual was against Dubois and again the Bobcats walked away with the win, 45-15. The final dual of Saturday’s action was against Greybull with another big win, 54-21.
Senior Austin Barral at 182 lbs. beat the #3 ranked wrestler in the state and had a record of 5-0.
Sophomore Jessen Basse at 138 lbs. had a breakout weekend with four wins having his best wrestling to date with a 4-0 record.
Freshman Will Ward at 113 lbs. dominated the mat pinning everyone he faced and earned a 4-0 record.
Wyatt McDermott at 145 lbs. and Roedy Farrell at 161 lbs. maintained their #1 state rankings. McDermott pinned the #3 and #6 ranked wrestlers. Farrell pinned the #7 ranked wrestler. Both wrestlers had a record of 4-0.
Senior Jarek Sorensen at 195 lbs. also had an undefeated record 4-0 as he looks to climb the ranking with wins in key matches.
Luke Dickey at 138 lbs. went undefeated in JV matches with 4-0 record.
Logan Dafoe at 138 lbs. was also undefeated at 3-0.
Seth Needham at 138 lbs. had an undefeated record of 3-0.
Nine out of 20 wrestlers this past weekend went undefeated. Brody Soreneson at 152 lbs. went 3-1 along with Colter Price at 120 lbs. Dalton Price at 132 lbs went 3-2. Mason Reese at 170 lbs. and JoJo Crow at 106 lbs. went 2-2. Zane Stam at 126 lbs, Lance Axtell at 113 lbs., and Daniel Blair at 132 lbs. went 1-2. Sam Skelton at 152 lbs. went 1-1. Ethan Crow at 126 lbs. was 0-4 and Ethan Yarrington at 132 lbs. was 0-2.
This weekend the Cats will be traveling to Lander for a large 3A dominated tournament.
