Larry D. “Hippy” Howe passed away January 11, 2022, at Hot Springs Health after a lengthy illness.
He was born June 25, 1950, to Lucille Shoopman and Merle Howe in Thermopolis, Wyo. Larry was living at the Wyoming Pioneer Home prior to his passing. He referred to the WPH as his home and thought highly of the staff that worked there.
Larry worked for a short period of time on drilling rigs.
He enjoyed sharing stories with his coffee shop friends. The majority of his time was spent driving the streets of Thermopolis. He never met a stranger and always had a wave, a smile for passersby or “Hi, kiddo”. His collection of eagles surpassed any gift store!
Larry is survived by his brothers, Gene (Phyllis) Howe of Marana, Ariz., Dick (Sandy) Howe of Thermopolis, and Mike (Cheryle) Howe of Greybull; sister, Patti (Tom) Jeunehomme of Thermopolis; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille Wright, Merle Howe and step-dad, Roger Wright; and sisters, Mary Lou Charles and Dena Balstad.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mortimore Funeral Home is assisting the family. Messages may be offered at http://www.mortfh.com.
