Saddle up for the Bar J Wranglers farewell benefit concert Saturday

The Bar J Wranglers, world famous singing cowboys from Jackson Hole, Wyoming, are riding into the sunset after over 40 years of entertaining the entire family with western harmonies straight from the range.

They will be performing at the Hot Springs County School auditorium on Saturday, October 23 at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 5 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door for $25 per person. It is suggested people show up when the doors open to get good seat.

You can expect to hear cowboy stories and jokes that will have you laughing in the aisles, and an evening of inspiration that will continue to lift your spirits long after the show.

Babe Humphrey founded the Bar J Wranglers 44 years ago, and now his sons, Scott and Bryan continue the family tradition, along with Tim Hodgson, Donnie Cook and Danny Rogers for one final season as they bid goodbye to their fans.

“We love taking the show on the road,” says Scott Humphrey. His brother, Bryan, agrees, “It gives us another opportunity to meet with the fans, and it gives them the opportunity to share the fun of the Bar J Wranglers with their families and friends.”

Babe Humphrey, who has been known to make a surprise appearance while the Wranglers are on tour, adds, “We so enjoy giving folks the opportunity to experience our authentic western show in their own home town.”

The Bar J Wranglers have performed with many Western music legends such as Roy Rogers, Dale Evans and Randy Travis and have been featured on numerous television and radio programs. They will be missed as they bid their final goodbyes in a concert you will want to attend.

The farewell concert in Thermopolis is a benefit event for the H Diamond W Youth Camp. The Bar J Wranglers had originally been scheduled for March 2020 but the concert had been postponed until now as a result of the pandemic. The board will honor the tickets of those who bring them to the concert.

“This is a fundraiser for our camp,” Event Organizer Ray Shaffer said, “Its for the youth – to give kids an opportunity to have a place they can go to just be a kid.”

The 4-H Youth Camp is located near the Shoshone National Forest in the Grass Creek area. It has been used for generations for families and is now available to rent out to organizations and individuals.

“I’ve been going since I was 10,” camp board member Doug Nichols said, “Its nice to go up to just play!”

The camp has recently been renovated using a Daniels Fund Grant and, among the repairs, is a brand-new commercial kitchen in the main lodge. Updates to the smaller cabins and shower rooms and an outdoor pavilion are in the works as the board strives to create an outdoor space that the entire family can enjoy.

Ray Shaffer explains the board’s passion in improving the area, “The camp has been under used and we want more youth to experience it. We are developing the next generation and want to create a facility for people to get away.”

By attending the concert, you will be supporting the 4-H youth in both Washakie and Hot Springs County. So, leave your cares behind, sit back and unwind, spending time with the Bar J Wranglers for one last ride!
