The Thermopolis Town Council met on October 5 for a brief meeting to take reports from various departments. During citizen participation, the council voted and passed to approve a liquor permit for One Eyed Buffalo for the Chamber of Commerce Banquet.
Town engineer Anthony Barnett was not in attendance, therefore, Assistant to Mayor Fred Crosby gave his report.
Working with Interim Police Chief Pat Cornwell, Crosby wants to place speed signs on the outside of town on both the north and south ends. Director of Public Works Ernie Slagle noted that the signs must be no lower than seven feet.
Mayor Mike Chimenti added that there are some citizen complaints of truckers using compression brakes within the town and their sounds are disturbing. Therefore, they may add that sign as well below the speed sign. Mayor Chimenti asked Cornwell to look into it.
Interim Police Chief Pat Cornwell told the council that he will present a report about nuisance yards in the next meeting.
Director of Public Works Ernie Slagle gave a report and said his fingers are crossed about the boiler at the Water Plant. Slagle added that he has made numerous calls for parts and did not receive any returns.
Under administration, Crosby said he received a packet that discussed the issue of cyber crimes and the need for insurance for the possibility of such an attack. Councilmember Bill Malloy said that at the recent Wyoming Convention people there highly recommend such insurance.
