Local author releases first book

Local author Jurri Schenck has released his first book called “Legends of the Wind, Volume 1,” with publisher Seraph Creative.

According to a press release from Seraph Creative, “Everyone has a story. But not everyone knows who they are or what role they play in their own adventure. What story are you in?”

The press release states, Legends of the Wind is a collection of tales written for real people and helped them discover their hero’s journey. These short stories are a variety of personal myths, fairy tales, and fables written by Jurri Schenck with the heart of a father in mind.

The legends celebrate the hidden treasures inside people’s hearts. They ignite their desires to succeed in their own quest and point them to their future and let them finish their parable. Imagine yourself in the story of a lifetime where you realize how vital you are.

The short stories range from fantasy to adventure to dreamworld experiences with a supernatural style. Both boys and girls can enjoy them. Adults will also appreciate them with the visual storytelling and hidden meanings woven in.

Schenck said, “There is power in storytelling, but there is even greater power when you can find yourself in your own story. This is the primary focus of Legends of the Wind. Original, unique, mythical, and magical stories let you discover your identity and destiny. Everyone is looking for their own story. Every soul, no matter where they are from, in time or history, seeks the same certain things: Who am I? Am I loved? What is my purpose? Where did I come from? What is my future?”

Schenck first started writing the book while he was living in Los Angeles, where he volunteered to work with elementary students. He realized that no one was reading books to the kids and had an idea. “What if I place the children in their own myths and fairytales?”

These stories, or legends, tapped into the lives of the children and helped them discover their identities and destinies. Not only that, Schenck discovered his voice, “Fathering Through Film” and with that approach in mind, he wrote many more. Later, the writing branched out to adults as well. Audiences of all ages have responded positively.

Schenck wrote these stories without interviewing or researching the subjects and yet with his gifting he was able to tap into their lives. Schenck would often write for people’s birthdays or on request.

The legends would touch people’s hearts and the reactions were strong. Some people would cry when Schenck would read them their story. One singer/songwriter was so happy he picked up Schenck, threw him into the air and caught him saying, “This is the best word I have ever received.”

The collection later would be called Legends of the Wind, with around 60 short stories in total. Schenck then moved back to his hometown of Thermopolis and started a podcast to feature the writing. The podcast’s second season will be starting again soon.

Not only will there be more stories in the next season of the podcast, but Schenck is also seeking to create more content. At this time, he is offering a special limited opportunity to write a personal story for free as long as the subject joins him live on a podcast episode. Schenck will deliver the person’s story for the first time live.

Schenck will not research or interview anyone about their story. For building a sense of community, Schenck said, “Come and find your adventure and join others on theirs as well.” If you want to receive a free story in this limited opportunity, go to http://www.legendsofhthewind.com.

Schenck’s podcast is on YouTube and his book can be purchased on Amazon.com. Additionally, an audiobook version will soon be available.
