Leroy Malchow, 72, passed away unexpectedly September 16, 2021, at his home in Thermopolis.
Leroy was born January 1, 1949, in Hartford, Wis., to Harry and Agnes (Wuesthoff) Malchow.
Throughout his life Leroy enjoyed trips to go fishing, loved watching Packers football, listening to rock-n-roll music and telling stories of the wild days back in his youth. He also was a Gun Smoke afficionado, having watched the entire series innumerous times. While still in Hartford, Leroy would commute to Milwaukee and work in a foundry with his father, Harry. There, they fabricated the sand molds in preparation for the hot molten iron to be poured into them. Over the years, Leroy took on several different trade. After moving to Riverton, Wyo., in 1977, he worked as a tile setter for Style Homes. From there, the oil field, working as a pumper then went on to painting homes for the remainder of his working career.
Leroy was a free spirit and known to be quite the jokester. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him. Throughout the years, Leroy kept his Christian faith.
Leroy is survived by his daughter, Nonnie Long; brother, Gerald (Barb) Malchow; sisters, Patsy Malchow and Judy (Gordy) Lentz.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; and ten brothers and sisters.
In honor of Leroy's wishes, a private "Celebration of Life" will be held at a later date.
