Bobcat Hall of Fame inductees

At the Bobcat Hall of Fame ceremony held at the Thermopolis Middle School, Shawna Farrell, Jack Kuiper and Tom Zupan were inducted. Additionally, members of the 2009 State Champion Football Team were also inducted. Those who attended included players Luke Casciato, Chris Ryan, Tanner Cornwell, William Enis and former assistant coach Matt Mason. 

Shawna Farrell is a 1998 graduate of Hot Springs County High School and received varsity letters in volleyball, basketball and track and field. She was an All-Conference basketball player and received All-State honors in track and field. Farrell was the State Champion in the 100 meters in 1996 and 1997, was the State Runner-Up in the 200 meters in 1997 and is the current record holder in the 100 meters.

Upon her graduation from Hot Springs County, she went on to play one year of basketball at Chadron State and she now volunteers her time as a youth sports coach here in Thermopolis. 

Jack Kuiper is a 1960 graduate of Hot Springs County High School. He received varsity letters in football and basketball. As a Bobcat basketball player, he received All-Conference and All-State honors and was a member of the Bobcat Conference Championship team.

Upon graduation from Thermopolis, he went on to serve in the U.S. Army for three years before entering school and playing basketball at Casper College. At Casper College, he was a member of the Region 9 Championship team. He went on to play at Chadron State and was a member of the District Championship team there and received his bachelor's degree in Community Recreation. Kuiper went on to build Kuiper Construction and served on the East Thermopolis City Council for many years.

Tom Zupan is a 1976 graduate of Hot Springs County High School and received three letters in football, three letters in basketball and two letters in track and field. Zupan was an All-Conference and All-State football selection in 1974 and 1975. He was named the Bobcat Defensive Player of the Year, and was the McClintock Award winner for Most Valuable Player in football. He was also a member of the 1976 Shrine Bowl and was named a team captain.

Zupan was a member of the 1974 State Champion basketball team, along with being a member of the 1976 State Champion 4x220 Relay Team. Zupan went on to receive his Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Wyoming and has worked in various locations around the world while also serving as a youth sports coach for many years.

Additionally, members of the 2009 State Champion Football Team were present. The team turned around a 2-7 record the previous season and won the 2A State Football Championship. On their way to a 10-1 record and a state title, the Bobcats defeated Big Piney, 25-0, in the quarterfinals, went on the road to Kemmerer and defeated the Rangers 33-13 in the semifinals and avenged their only loss of the regular season in defeating Glenrock 22-20 in the State Championship game at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie. The Bobcats were led by Head Coach, Chuck Syverson and Assistant Coaches Matt Mason, Rob Davis, and Aaron White.

The 2009 State Championship Team members include Mitch Syverson, Trevor Birdsley, Colin Herold, Chris Leyba, Nate Thomas, Riley Sike, Jake Moore, Louis Bradshaw, Chris Ryan, Tanner Abbott, Colton Brown, Jacob Brown, Dustin Griffin, Tanner Cornwell, William Enis, Dylan Balstad, Kyle Pebbles, Kyle Larson, Miles Galovich, Seth Simons, Josh Bohleen, Luke Casciato, Warren Andreen, Rudy Espinoza, Elijah Spraul, Travis Cook, Christian Syverson, Daxon Schwab.
