The 2021 Junior Livestock Auction and Judges' Choice Bake Sale at the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds Friday night brought in a record breaking $203,104.50, up from $180,195.25 last year.
Along with a live auction for sheep, swine, goats and beef, baked goods were offered up via a silent auction.
Twenty-six head of beef came through the ring this year and sold for an average of $3.52 per pound and an average of $4,473.32 per head for a total sales amount of $116,306.25. The average price per head was down from last year's $4.61. Last year only 22 head sold compared to the 26 this year.
Grand Champion Riley Dean's steer was purchased by Mack's Market at $4.50 per pound for a total of $5,899.50.
High price per pound was $5.50 paid by Pape Brothers for Paisley Logan's steer.
The number of swine sold at auction was up from 17 last year to 29 head this year for a total sales amount of $61,154.50.
Average price per head this year was $2,108.78, with the average price per pound coming in at $8.05. Last year's average price per pound was $7.53.
Atlas Roofing purchased the Grand Champion swine of Tymber Eckley's at $7 per pound for a total of $1,911.00.
Bridger Peil's swine brought in the high price per pound, selling for $11.50 per pound to One Eyed Buffalo.
Sheep prices at the auction saw the biggest increase in the price per pound over last year with 21 head being sold for $20,991.00, compared to 21 head last year selling for $13,113.75. The average price per head this year came out to $999.57, compared to $624.46 last year. Average price per pound this year was $6.98, up from $4.98 last year.
Tymber Eckley's Grand Champion sheep did not sell.
High price per pound went to Kylie Frederick's sheep at $10.50 per pound. The buyer was S Mill Iron Metal Worx.
Three head of goats were auctioned off for a total of $1,602.75, with an average price of $534.25.
Chloee Owsley's Grand Champion goat did not sell.
Arin Adams goat went for the highest price per pound at $7 and was bought by Vicklund Pharmacy.
Average price per pound for goats was $6.58, up from $6.38 last year.
The total for baked goods sold was $3,050.00, down from $4,020 last year. The high seller was Shyanne Jones for $375.00 bought by Billie Jo Norsworthy.
