At the Hot Springs County Rec District Adult Softball Championship Game, it was between One Stop Sparkplugs and One Eyed Buffalo. They had split the season series 2-2, with OEB winning their games 16-13 and 13-11, while Sparkplugs won their two with scores of 19-10 and 14-11.
The game that Sparkplugs won 14-11 versus OEB was the final game of the regular season, and actually had an impact on the playoff seedings, with Sparkplugs leapfrogging OEB to the #1 seed.
Coming into the championship this year, Sparkplugs had the momentum, and had won the most recent contest between them. These two teams also played each other in last year's Championship game, and Sparkplugs took that one 28-7. OEB really wanted to win this one.
Both teams cruised in the semifinals, Sparkplugs beating Robin Batsman 21-7, and OEB taking down 1st Responders 21-6.
In the championship game, neither team got out to a hot start, but it would be OEB that was more consistent, managing to score a few here and there in every inning, en route to a 13-5 victory. Sparkplugs just was not able to get sustained hitting, taking until the 5th inning to put a run up on the board. David Evans really managed to keep OEB moving with two big home runs.
