Hot Spot Car Show hits town this weekend

Rusty Old Truck Market downtown

The annual Thermopolis Hot Spot Car Show will be on Father’s Day weekend June 19 and 20.

The parade of cars will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, starting at Hot Springs State Park traveling from the Chamber of Commerce onto the main drag, through the stoplight, past McDonald’s moving to Thermopolis Rehab and Wellness, turning north onto 14th Street, past the Fire Hall and then east down Broadway to the downtown area.

The parade will have a police and fire department escort. The final destination will be in the 400 block on Broadway in front of Town Hall.

On Sunday there will be “Show and Shine” where many cars and vehicles will be on display from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

There will be voting on the vehicles for the People’s Choice award. The cut off time for voting is 1 p.m. A custom trophy with the winner’s name engraved on it will be given to the owner of the vehicle receiving the most votes. 

Organizer Krystal Spatol said they are expecting a large crowd and she knows of participants coming from three other states besides Wyoming. 

The Ted Spatol Poker Run will occur on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. There will be a 50/30/20 pay out. The high hand will receive 30% and the low hand will receive 20%.

Also on Sunday there will be a flag ceremony at 9 a.m. The song the Star-spangled Banner will play at 2:45 p.m. where they will retire the colors. All visiting veterans or active duty officers are welcome to participate. 

Rusty Old Truck Market

Not only will there be the Car Show on June 19, the Rusty Old Truck Market will occur in the 500 block of Broadway downtown. It opens at 10 a.m.

There will be vintage and handcrafted goods. Vendors will be selling reclaimed, reinvented and homemade goods out of the back of old trucks and tents.

It will be fun for all with music, refreshments, an Ugly Truck Contest with a door prize of the ugliest truck. There will also be a tailgate party at 4 p.m. in conjunction with the Hot Spot Car Rally. 

Local merchants will be there along with food vendors. There will be prize drawing contests all day where the vendors will donate items to win.

For music Harold Hutson and his band will play. Also from Sheridan, The Nate Champion Band will perform. The music is free for all to enjoy. 

There will be a beer garden and corn hole along with other games. The Farmers Market will be open that day as well and their items will be available.

Broadway Street will be closed 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. The parked cars will be on display between 4th and 5th streets.
