As of May 17, data sourced from the Wyoming Department of Health COVID-19 Vaccine Coverage page shows that Hot Springs County has fully vaccinated 1,451 individuals, which is 32.21 % of the county population.
Hot Springs County is third in Wyoming for percentage of population fully vaccinated. Teton County leads with 56.44% and Albany is slightly ahead of Hot Springs with 37.21%.
Fully vaccinated means both doses of Moderna or Pfizer were given, or one dose of Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) were administered.
All of the vaccines in Hot Springs County were administered solely by Hot Springs County Public Health Nursing, Red Rock Family Practice, Hot Springs Health and Vicklund Pharmacy.
The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is now available for children ages 12 and older. Following guidance from U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Wyoming Department of Health (WDH), Hot Springs County will begin vaccinating individuals within the 12 to 17 age group this week.
Pfizer received an emergency use authorization (EUA) from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on May 10. This EUA allows the Pfizer vaccine age group to be extended from age 16 and 17 to ages 12 through adulthood. The Pfizer vaccine is now the only vaccine approved for the 12-17 age group. This vaccine requires two doses, 21 days apart.
A parent or legal guardian must sign the Vaccine Consent Form which attests the child is at least 12 years old and must also accompany the child to the vaccination appointment.
