John B. Vialpando

John B. Vialpando, 71, passed away May 3, 2021, at his Thermopolis home, with his wife by his side, following a series of health problems.

Born October 27, 1949, in Worland, Wyo., he was the son of Ruben and Marjorie (Taylor) Vialpando. The family moved to Thermopolis where John attended school, graduating in 1968. Immediately following he joined the Army, serving in Vietnam. John earned the Purple Heart, Bronze medal, Silver Star and Army Rifleman commendations. He wore a piece of shrapnel behind his ear and often told his grandchildren the story. After the service he was employed in Harry Estes' motorcycle shop. 

John married Dixie F. Loveland, March 8, 1971, in Thermopolis. The couple managed the Orpheum Theatre and Rio Drive-In. John became a journeyman for Collins Plumbing, was employed by the Chrysler dealer, where he learned his auto body repair trade, then on to Phil Bush Ford. He and Dixie then established and managed Creative Kolors Body Shop.

His many activities included high school Legion Baseball, helping to establish a  Motocross Club, and enjoying fried taters and brookies while camping and fishing. He had a love for chocolate and his "Cokalola".

He is survived by his wife, Dixie, of 50 years; daughter, Ciley (Dale) Andreen of Thermopolis; son, Cheb, of Powell; and grandchildren, Tyne, Thayne, Tatum and CJ Vialpando, and Jarron Mortimore, Warren, Kin Dale, Hannah and Maddison Andreen.

Graveside services at Riverside Cemetery will be held Saturday, May 15 at 11:30 a.m. with VFW Post 2281 Military rights along with the Army Honor Guard.

A "last ride" thru town will take place prior to the service. Please meet at 515 Washakie at 10:30 a.m., all vehicles welcome.
