Sonja Johansen is the new Golf Pro Shop manager and she will be taking care of the clubhouse.
There are plans to reopen the restaurant at the course soon. The menu will include, chicken, burgers, chicken fingers and some diabetic friendly foods. Along with french fries, other side options will be coleslaw, cottage cheese and other low carb options. They will also be serving morning coffee.
Johansen will oversee staff, take care of the golf carts and the bar among other duties. The club house will host men’s and women’s league nights and tournaments.
Johansen came into the position through her volunteer work. She did a lot last year at the golf course doing greens keeping tasks and work inside the clubhouse.
Johansen and her husband, Tobi, have been volunteering and have been active members at the golf course for years.
Johansen said their aim is “to make it the best they can be. We’re lucky to have this golf course here. It’s a cool little course. The views from out there are amazing.”
With the beginning of the course’s new year, they are faced with the typical challenges of getting things up and running. They are working on hiring staff and training them and ordering products.
Johansen’s main goal for the clubhouse is “to build the best team that I can where we can all talk together and work together and have fun. Work hard and have as much fun as we can.”
Johansen sees the golf course as a place where you want to enjoy working. She enjoys the location and its beauty and takes pride in all that she does.
She is also an accomplished artist in her spare time. She was born in Northern California and grew up on the west coast. She met Tobi and they ended up moving to Wyoming through a telecommunications recruitment job. After several years of hearing about Wyoming, they decided to “just try it” and moved to the area sight unseen.
