Roy Lyle Phillips, 75, died in Billings, Montana, March 30, 2021.
Born October 24, 1945, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, he was one of five children of Jack, Sr. and Vera (Edwards/Walters) Phillips. The family moved to Thermopolis in 1957 where Roy attended school.
He joined the U S Navy when he was 17. Following his discharge he worked at various jobs in Hot Springs State Park, Meadowlark Lodge, and cowboying for Friday Rathbun. Working for the Skelton farm he became disabled due to an accident on the job. He will be remembered walking Thermopolis on his crutches and later maneuvering in his electric cart.
Roy enjoyed collecting rings and coins and pampering his kitty.
Survivors include a son in Billings, Mont .; siblings, Jack Phillips and Violet (Jim) Petty, both of Shoshoni; half-brothers, Allen and George Phillips; half-sisters Violet Wachter, Anna Marie Terry and Shirley Dolan; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Sr .; mother, Vera Walters; and brothers, Grover and Bill.
A Celebration of Roy’s life was held April 19 at the VFW.
