Fundraising breakfast served Saturday

Two fundraisers have been organized to support two Hot Springs County High School groups and their desire to donate to the Make A Wish Foundation.

Sheriff's department breakfast

The Hot Springs County Sheriff's Department is partnering with the high school senior class to assist them in raising money for the Make A Wish Foundation.

There will be a free community breakfast including eggs, bacon and pancakes and drinks on Saturday, April 10 from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Community Hall behind the Community Church. It's a free breakfast, but donations are welcomed for anybody that wants to raise money for the Hot Spring County senior class. No money will be going to the Sheriff's Office.

The breakfast event is being put on by the sheriff's department with their own funds.

Screening for COVID will also be done at the door.

They will serve until they run out of food.

Sheriff Jerimie Kraushaar said "As part of the fundraising, within the sheriff's department, we have some water jugs where if someone drops silver coins there are negative points whereas cash donations add points. Each jug contains a group of deputies who are a team in the 5K race sponsored by the HSCHS Student Council.

Whoever gets the most points and raises the most money doesn't have to do the 5K run." However, participation is still not mandatory. There are three teams of deputies and whoever loses the bet will do the 5K run.

5K for $5K

The community is teaming up with the Make A Wish Foundation to raise $5K for kids in need. The Make A Wish Foundation is a nonprofit which raises money to fulfill the wishes of kids with critical illnesses. Members of the community and the Hot Springs County High School Student Council will be competing to see who can raise the money first.

The 5K event will be Saturday, April 17 at 10 a.m. in the Hot Springs State Park at the Kiwanis Shelter. Get your tickets today with Eventbrite, or at https://tinyurl.com/4esv32da.

The participants include the HSCHS Student Council, HSCSD's Dustin Hunt and Breeze Daniels, Thermopolis Hardware's Karen Sinclair, Sheriff Department's Dood Jassaud, Police Department's Mike Moscarro, Smith Oil Field's Kevin Smith, Mack's Market's Eric Mackay, Mortimore Ambulance's Mark Mortimore, Ryan Brother's Trucking's Bob Ryan, School Board's Clay VanAntwerp and Roadrunner's Lisa Bowman
