It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We print the names of all people upon their initial arrest.

Wednesday, March 17

2:13 p.m. Report of trespassing in Kirby, where a 34-year-old female was allegedly being rude and taking belongings from her 87-year-old grandmother. The granddaughter was issued a trespass notice. 

Friday, March 19

Unknown Time: Thomas Toth, 42, was arrested in Worland on a Hot Springs County warrant for Probation Revocation. He was originally charged for assault in 2015. 

10:38 a.m. Report of an agency assist where the Department of Family Services was called to the Middle School where a 13 or 14-year-old female was allegedly claiming self-harm and child abuse. The deputy investigated and the matter was determined to be unfounded. The parents denied services through DFS.

Saturday, March 20

2:06 a.m. Report of a theft where a woman said her boyfriend stole her motor vehicle. The matter turned out to be a civil issue. 

9:42 p.m. Report of a 911 hangup in a generalized area of Lane 6. The deputy investigated and spoke with the Quality Inn and neighbors. There was no call back number and the deputy was unable to locate the caller.

Sunday, March 21

10:01 a.m. Report of a theft on Missouri Flat where a son allegedly stole his father’s truck. They are waiting to see if he will return the vehicle before pressing charges.

Monday, March 15

3:26 p.m. Report of an accent where a driver was heading north on Mondell and another vehicle hit the driver’s door causing significant damage and deploying airbags. A 51-year-old female was cited for failure to yield.

4:57  p.m. Report of a citizen assist where a renter may have taken their landlord’s property. This was determined to be a civil issue. 

9:11 p.m. Report of an abandoned vehicle that was tagged and waiting to be moved. The owner was given five days to move or it will be towed.

Tuesday, March 16

2:22 p.m. Report of shots fired at the cemetery. It turned out to be a cemetery employee shooting cracker rounds from a shotgun to scare turkeys out of the area. The firearm was issued by Game and Fish. 

3:43 p.m. Report of a drug bust at a traffic stop near the Armory where a vehicle with two adults and two juveniles were arrested. Daniel Norris Robinson, 19 and Sebastian Kaige Jordan, 18 and one 17-year-old male juvenile, and one 16-year-old male juvenile were arrested for drug-related charges and possible felonies. All subjects are from Rock Springs. See accompanying LSD Drug Bust story.

3:59 p.m. Report of an accident where a vehicle backed up into another vehicle in a business parking lot. 

8:47 p.m. Report of a juvenile problem involving a 12-year-old male, a 14-year-old male, a 15-year-old female and a 13-year-old female. The matter is still under investigation. 

Wednesday, March 17

10:53 p.m. Report of a citizen assist involving a Rocky Mountain Power work truck that fell into a sinkhole on private property.

5:58 p.m. Report of a suspicious subject who was thought to be on drugs because of his behavior. The officer investigated and the matter was unfounded.

6:30 p.m. Report of suspicious activity where a third party said some women were afraid to go home. The matter was unfounded.

8:20 p.m. Report of a citizen assist where a business thought they had a possible shoplifter. The subject was identified and given a trespass notice. 

9:08 p.m. Report of a citizen assist where a subject was somehow trapped and locked inside their car. Their FOB battery died and every time they tried to unlock the doors, the alarm would go off and could not open the door. The subject was able to take the manual key from the FOB and squeeze it through the window to give to the officer to open it from the outside. They were able to get out of the vehicle. 

Thursday, March 18

10:21 a.m. Report of a citizen assist where a subject wanted information about if someone comes back to their property. The officer gave them what they needed.

5:06 p.m. Report of suspicious behavior involving three juveniles climbing the picnic structure in Candy Jack Park. The officer was unable to locate them.

5:16 p.m. Report of an agency assist where an officer was at the landing zone for Life Flight. 

5:40 p.m. Report a urine test at the request of Probation and Parole. The subject was found clean.

8:15 p.m. Report of a citizen assist where a subject was lost. The officer provided them directions. 

8:49 p.m. Report of suspicious drug paraphernalia left in the bathroom of a local business. There were no suspects.

Friday, March 19

8:42 a.m. Report of lost property involving a subject missing a phone. No one has turned it in yet. 

12:17 p.m. Report of an agency assist where an urinalysis was performed on a subject for the Department of Family Services.

2:10 p.m. Report of an agency assist where the police were too busy with calls to help the Department of Family Services. The request was canceled. 

Saturday, March 20

8:17 a.m. Report of a citizen assist involving a man was advised by the officer involving a civil family matter.

9:27 a.m. Report of a deceased 74-year-old male. There was no foul play. 

1:24 p.m. Report of theft involving a subject reported their vehicle was stolen. However, the subject was highly intoxicated and forgot where they parked. The vehicle was where they left it.

3:07 p.m. Report of suspicious subject hanging around the hospital. The officer was unable to locate them.

7:40 p.m. Report of a suspiciously strong smell of marijuana at a local business. The officer was unable to locate the source of the smell. 

Sunday, March 21

9:08 a.m. A set of keys was found in the Bighorn River. No one has  claimed them yet. 

9:12 a.m. Report of theft involving a previous call from January where a phone was found in a vehicle, but now a subject is claiming new items were missing from that time. The matter is still under investigation. 

1:51 p.m. Report of citizen assist involving threatening text messages. The report is pending. 

Birth

Adalyn Cormican was born Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at Hot Springs Health to Trisha Larson and Wade Cormican.

She weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces, and was 19.5 inches long.

Grandparents are Kristy, Durfee, Chris Durfee, Steven Juhala and Troy and Ann Cormican.
