JoAnn Marie Myers, 71, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021, in Billings, Mont., after a long seven months of multiple illnesses. She lost her fight after being diagnosed in January with colon cancer.
Born December 30, 1949, in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter Edward and Matilda (Perona) Mallman. At six weeks she and her mother moved to Thermopolis, then Washington and Montana before returning to Thermopolis where JoAnn attended high school.
She married Terry D. Scholz, Sr. While Terry served in the Navy the couple lived in California where their first child, Terry, Jr., was born in 1968. Returning to Thermopolis their second child, Trina, was born. They lived in multiple states for short periods as Terry, Sr. worked in the oil fields. They later divorced.
In 1982 JoAnn married Robert M. "Rob" Myers and they enjoyed 39 years of wedded bliss. To this union was born Shasta and Boone.
For many years JoAnn was a bus driver for Hot Springs County School District transporting children all over the state, retiring in 2013. She became active in the Gift of the Waters Pageant in the early 60's serving in many positions as well as singing in the Pageant Choir and held the office of Secretary at the time of her death.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crafts and genealogy. She was a vital and active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was very involved in the Reunion Committee and was active in the VFW.
She is survived by her children, Terry (Melissa) Scholz, Trina Slover, Boone Myers, all of Thermopolis and Shasta (John) Shafer of Round Mountain, Nev .; brother, Leon Tuttle of California; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Rob in 2021.
Graveside burial will be Monday, March 29 at 10:30 a.m. at Monument Hill Cemetery. A memorial for both JoAnn and Rob will be held in May.
