Middle school seventh grade basketball update

The Thermopolis Middle School seventh grade boys basketball teams have continued to win most of their games as the season progresses.

In the A game against Lander, Thermopolis came out on top 46-13.

“Lander was short-handed 2 players from the last time we played them and our pressure got to them right from the start. We were able to build a big lead with tough defense and get all of our guys lots of playing time. Our scoring was very balanced, maybe the best we have done all season,” said coach Daniel Webber

Point earners include: Armani Dukes – 12 points, Cody Bomengen – 8 points, Zak Hastie – 8 points, Ellis Webber – 6 points, Stone Pebbles – 5 points, Scott Coale – 4 points, Bridger Peil – 3 points.

Thermopolis also came out on tope in the B game against Lander 29-20.

“This was a great game on both ends of the floor for the B team. Trystan DeVries had an outstanding game for us offensively but again our 3 guards were just too much for Lander on defense. We have really come to depend on their defense to carry us,” said coach Webber.

Point earners include: Trysten DeVries – 16 points, Ty Simeral – 8 points, Jadeth Elder – 5 points.

In the A game against Powell, Thermopolis again came out on top 45-33.

“We jumped up on Powell early, but they eventually figured our press out and got back into the game. The boys did a good job of responding and clamping down on defense to hold onto their lead,” said coach Webber.

Point earners include: Armani Dukes – 13 points, Cody Bomengen – 12 points, Ellis Webber – 9 points, Stone Pebbles – 4 points, Bridge Peil – 4 points, Zak Hastie – 2 points.

Thermopolis B team lost a very close game to Powell 22-23.

“This was an exciting game that went into overtime. The boys gained a lot of good experience even though we lost this one. We had plenty of chances to win and couldn’t be more proud of how the boys fought in this game to try and get the win,” said coach Webber.

Point earners include: Jadeth Elder – 8 points, Ty Simeral – 5 points, Trysten DeVries – 5 points, Camden Weyer – 2 points, Jay Ritchey – 2 points.
