The Thermopolis Middle School boys seventh grade basketball teams have been working hard this year and playing some great defense and scoring well on offense.
Head coach Daniel Webber reported some recent wins against Riverton and Shoshoni.
Thermopolis A game against Riverton on Feb. 4 wrapped up with the boys winning 31-29.
“This was an exciting game for the boys. It went back and forth the whole time but we were able to really press them hard in the last quarter and create several turnovers that we scored off of. Then we played great defense the last two minutes to keep them from coming back,” said Webber.
Point earners included: Cody Bomengen – 11 points, Armani Dukes – 9 points, Zak Hastie – 4 points, Stone Pebbles – 3 points, Ellis Webber – 2 points, Scott Coale – 2 points.
The Thermopolis B game against Riverton came out with the boys winning 35-20.
“The B team kinda dominated this game from beginning to end. Our trio of guards were just too much for them. I really gotta give credit to Jadeth, Ty and Trysten for their great defense and attack mentality on offense,” said Webber.
Point earners included: Trysten DeVries – 11 points, Jadeth Elder – 8 points, Ty Simeral – 8 points, Blevins Little – 4 points, Camden Weyer – 2 points, Cooper Holman – 2 points.
On Feb. 5, the seventh grade basketball teams took on Shoshoni.
In the A game Thermopolis won 26-13.
“This was a different pace of game for the A team as they were not allowed to press. We got a chance to really work on our half court game and the boys responded well and did a great job. Hopefully this will benefit us in the long run,” said Webber.
Point earners included: Cody Bomengen – 11 points, Armani Dukes – 9 points, Scott Coale – 6 points, Zak Hastie – 3 points, Bridger Peil – 3 points, Stone Pebbles – 2 points, Ellis Webber – 1 point, Nolan Collins – 1 point.
In the B game, the Thermopolis boys struggled and fell to Shononi 19-44.
“This was kind of a trap game for the B team. They ran a zone against us which we have not seen all year. We never got adjusted to it and we just didn’t play well on the offensive end. We might get another shot at this team and we will be ready,” said Webber.
Point earners included: Jadeth Elder – 7 points, Ty Simeral – 4 points, Blevins Little – 4 points, Trysten DeVries – 2 points, Jay Ritchey – 2 points
