The Lady Cat Basketball team had two contests this past weekend.
The team dropped a conference game to Buffalo by a final score of 61-48 on Friday evening.
“The girls played well for three quarters of the game. In the fourth quarter, the execution dipped, as they were outscored 18-9,” said coach Matt McPhie.
Sadie Burr led the way scoring with 15 points. Layne Myers added nine points knocking down a trio of three pointers. Ruthanne Johnson got her first varsity start and played well including pulling down five rebounds in the contest.
Kamry Bowman also had five rebounds. Bowman was also an impressive six for six from the foul line. Bowman also ripped three steals leading the way on defense.
Saturday the team faced a tough Burlington team and came away with a 70-50 victory. It was the most points scored by a Lady Cat basketball team since the 2014-2015 season.
“The girls battled on the boards and turned good defense into offensive points,” said coach McPhie.
Dayna Crow had a career high 19 points leading the way for the team. Crow also had seven steals to add to her impressive performance.
“We are so proud of Dayna. She has worked very hard and has devoted so much time to improving her game. Her hard work is paying off --and it was a special day for her and we look forward to her continued growth,” said coach McPhie.
Kamry Bowman, Julie Johnson, and Sadie Burr all chipped in 11 points. Elisa Weber had 10 points. Weber also grabbed a game high 11 rebounds including seven on the offensive end. Bowman added seven rebounds including five offensive. Ruthanne Johnson grabbed six boards for the Lady Cats also.
Julie Johnson was in the giving mood all game. Johnson dished out a game high five assists.
The team takes on Rocky Mountain and Worland this Friday and Saturday. Both of those games are on the road.
