At the December 15 Thermopolis Town Council meeting, Wyoming Finance Insurance agent Luke Anderson presented himself at the request of Assistant to the Mayor Fred Crosby.
Crosby wanted Anderson to take a second look at the town’s properties and assets to see if there is a better way of insuring them. Anderson’s work covers the Big Horn Basin and he has 21 years of experience, eight with his current company, and has been in the Cody office for 13 years. His title is regional vice president. Anderson did his research and compared liability insurance between Liberty Mutual and Travelers.
His determination is that Travelers is by far the right fit for the town. He said, “I couldn’t find anything better.”
Crosby also gave a background that their current insurance agent in Sheridan had some health problems and has retired. The next Sheridan agent had no real communication with Crosby, and that concerned him. Crosby said in reference to Anderson, “I think this might be a good agent that made the effort.”
Anderson said that he was not new to working with municipalities and had already had a good relationship with Travelers. He has direct access to underwriters and is not new to Thermopolis, the area, or to covering towns. He has worked with Cody, Powell, Basin, Worland and Meeteesee. Crosby proposed to the council that they keep Travelers insurance but switch agents from Sheridan to Anderson. After some discussion, the council passed a motion and voted to approve the request.
Town attorney Mike Messager gave the third and final reading of the ordinance to the recodification of all prior ordinances. The council voted and passed ordinance #860.
The council also voted to approve Joe Moon as a for a three-year term on the Nature and Discovery Center Board.
The council voted to have their health insurance agent renew their contract as a consultant for one more year.
The council voted to accept a grant to help purchase mobile radios and other equipment for the police department. Laura Leseberg was instrumental in getting the grant.
