First confirmed COVID-19 death in HSC

Hot Springs County has its first confirmed COVID-19 death, according to the Wyoming Department of Health.

The older Hot Springs County man tested positive for the virus and died November 18 while hospitalized. He has been added to the State of Wyoming’s death count according to the Wyoming Department of Health.

The man had health conditions recognized as putting patients at a higher risk of serious illness related to COVID-19.

Deaths among Wyoming residents are added to the state’s total based on official death certificate information. If death certificates do not describe COVID-19 as either causing or contributing to a person’s death, those deaths are not included in Wyoming’s count.

The timing of death certificate confirmation is inconsistent.
