At the most recent Chamber of Commerce meeting, Director Meri Ann Rush reported on the profit and loss for the Banquet that was held on October 3. They had 150 tickets sold and there were 129 meals served. Rush said many people would buy tickets to give to someone else. The banquet did make a profit and Rush said that “it was surprising.”
Moonlight Madness was a success with the chamber filling 163 bags. Rush reported that there was great attendance and that she was “shocked there were that many cute kids.”
Last year Pinnacle Bank hosted the event, and they filled 200 bags. Dr. Vernon and Rachel Miller sponsored the event and provided the prizes. The first-place prize was $20 in chamber bucks, second-place was $10 in chamber bucks, third was $5. This was an increase from what they had in the past. The bags weren’t just filled with candy but also contained Halloween tattoos or stickers, pens and pencils and glow sticks. Rush added, “It was nice seeing kids trick or treat at the stores afterward.”
For their Christmas committee, they have spent the past five weeks meeting and decorating. They are almost done decorating the downtown area. They are working on the Merry Christmas Market, which last year they had 60 shoppers and 35 turned in their cards after the 190 cards they printed. Rush said, “Hopefully this year we have a good turnout.” The Chamber will show the movie “The Grinch” on December 20 at 3:30 p.m.
In new business, Rush discussed their new city/county maps for a December fundraiser.
The coming Christmas Parade is Friday, December 4 at 6 p.m. Line up starts at 5:30 p.m. Road closure permits have been granted. The chamber members will work as a team to assist the floats and their line ups.
In her director’s report, Rush said they are going to do a Zoom meeting for their Wyoming State Chamber of Commerce Retreat on November 16.
Also, Rush is working to improve the Chamber’s sound system and got advice from Eric Kay about what new equipment should be purchased. Rush also was able to get funds from Rocky Mountain Power and they sponsored the funds for approximately $1,500 for the new system. They are waiting for the final approval of the funds before the purchase.
Rush and the board also discussed Chamber Benefits on what they offer to its members, such as resources and features.
The Chamber After Hours event on November 19 at Cell Only Verizon has been cancelled.
